About Livia

I’m originally from southwestern Connecticut and currently live in Brooklyn. My dad worked at Apple and Adobe when I was a kid, so I grew up with an optimism toward technology and the way it could enable creativity—when I wanted to draw in MS Paint, my dad had me use Photoshop Elements. I started my career as a project manager at a NYC digital agency, where I oversaw all kinds of projects for clients in a broad range of industries. I learned a lot, but I longed to switch over to the design team; while in college I’d started a creative writing help Tumblr that quickly grew to about 150,000 followers, and realized I enjoyed designing the pages more than anything else. So I took night classes at The New School and did some freelance projects, and eventually the agency’s creative director agreed to let me join the design team. In 2018 a dream role opened up at one of my favorite websites, Ravelry. I’d been a fan and user of the platform for a long time, so it’s been an honor to be their first designer. You can see some of the projects I led on my Work page.

Some things you won’t see on my resume:

  • Writing is my first creative love: I’ve been writing short stories since I was a little kid, studied English & Creative Writing in college, have been a writing mentor since 2016, and have published 2 short stories

  • I’m really into knitting — here are some things I’ve made

  • My mom was born in Germany, and I double majored in German

  • I’m named after a diabolical Roman empress and am 5,232nd in line to the British throne

  • I enjoy drinking hot sauce
